LANSING — Today the Deputy Sheriffs Association of Michigan announced their support for Gretchen Whitmer for Governor. DSAM joins the growing list of law enforcement organizations that has endorsed Whitmer over Attorney General Bill Schuette.
The Deputy Sheriff’s Association of Michigan is a statewide fraternal nonprofit organization with over 3,000 members, including patrol officers, detectives, local correction officers, evidence technicians and emergency dispatchers. DSAM is widely recognized as one of the most effective advocates for the advancement of public safety issues in Michigan.
“I’m so proud to have the support of the brave men and women who keep our communities safe,” said Whitmer. “Our law enforcement officials need a governor who works just as hard as they do. As a former prosecutor and a survivor of sexual assault, I will never stop fighting to protect survivors of violence and abuse. Let’s get it done.”
Whitmer has been endorsed by the most law enforcement organizations in the race for governor, including the Michigan Fraternal Order of Police, Michigan’s largest and oldest law enforcement organization with 7,500 Active and 5,000 Associate members, the Michigan Association of Police Organizations, which includes 14,300 full-time members, and the Wayne County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association.
