Strength: Fighting to Keep Us Safe

Michigan families have been through a lot. The last thing they need is to worry about whether or not their loved ones are safe in their own homes, in their neighborhoods, and in their schools. Gretchen is working to make sure we have the laws on the books and the cops on the street to stop crime.

Her plan:

  • Police and public safety should not be on the budget chopping block.
  • Keep sex offenders away from our kids.
  • Protect our parents and grandparents from elder abuse.
  • Tackle the growing threat of violence in schools and cyberbullying.

Gretchen's vigilance on public safety earned her the recognition of 2003 "Legislator of the Year" by the Michigan Sheriff's Association.
